I have no complaints about Tommy Miah's Raj Hotel. Its close to Islington which is roughly where I want to be, its clean, in-expensive and the staff are happy, polite and helpful. This is everything I want from a London hotel.

I found my stay at the Tommy Miah's Raj Hotel to be a very pleasant one. The hotel was comfortable and clean with some nice design making it more personal than the generic budget hotels. The hotel was serviced well by buses and I had no diffculty getting to any of the tourist locations on London.

Everything was perfect, except the breakfast. If would be great if bread, as well as the jam and yogurt could be of a better quality. That does not cost much, but makes the stay even more pleasant!

“An Excellent 5 days spent in London”
By Mrs Brid S, Rijnsburg, Netherlands
19 September 2011
I was in London doing a course and stayed for 5 days. I really wanted to have a bathtub in my room and since the single was gone I opted for the family room. I must say this room was excellent for me and the bathroom was up a few steps and so not intruding on the room as you find in so many hotels. The staff were very helpful and even have a 24 hour taxi office next door. I availed of their services a few times and felt as though I was travelling and staying with family. A truly lovely experience.
Can't wait to go back to Islington. Another participant of the same course as me, stayed in a much more pricier hotel and didn't get clean towels, just goes to show you don't always get what you pay for.

Tommy Miahs Raj Hotel on the Essex Road in Islington is a perfectly good value but decent quality hotel in North London. It's extremely well served by public transport from Angel tube station [which, by the way is on the Northern line not the Victoria line] and is only 5mins away from all the bars/restaurants that area offers. It's also very close to Essex Road train station which takes you straight into the City eg Moorgate. The room was clean, the shower room was perfectly adequate [if a little small] and the bed was fine though the mattress was a tad thin. To be honest, for the cost and taking into consideration it's in a very handy location in London, this is a good value hotel for a short stay.

Tommy Miah's Raj Hotel in Essex Road, Islington is a good value budget hotel. The room was clean, decorated in vibrant reds & complementary cream and was a very pleasant place to stay. The bathroom was small but there again, it was modern and perfectly good. The location is excellent & served by a multitude of buses from Angel tube [which is on the Northern line] & only a few minutes from Essex Road train station which takes you straight into the City.

The hotel was easy to find and very well located to see a gig at Islington Union Chapel, the staff were friendly, the room small but clean and perfectly adequate, and the breakfast, though no cooked option, was good and plentiful - with a range of cereals, bread and lovely croissants, jams, etc, tea and coffee and fruit juice. I would definately stay here again.

By Mrs Anna Pluda
We spent 5 nights at your hotel, nearly one month ago and it was nice. Really very kind people, nice hotel and rooms even though very easy and basic. I loved to have breakfast and watch the street from the big windows.
Islington is a beautiful zone, the buses stop in front of the hotel, easy to reach the centre and pleasant to walk around even in the evening. Many restaurants nearby. If I come to London again, I'll stay for sure at your hotel!
