Kensington Palace
London
Set within the tranquil Kensington Gardens in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in London is the royal residence, Kensington Palace. Kensington Palace first became a royal residence for William III and Mary II in 1689 and was home to Queen Victoria and more recently the late Diana Princess of Wales.
Some members of the Royal Family still live and work here today, but certain historic and fascinating parts of the palace are open to the public, as well as the popular Royal Ceremonial Dress Collection on display.
In the magnificent State Apartments you will see some of the most breath taking examples work by the architect and painter William Kent. Highlights of a visit to Kensington Palace include the sunken garden, which was planted in 1908, the grand King's staircase, Queen Victoria's bedroom and the King's gallery with its collection of art.
