O2 Arena
Greenwich
Formally the Millennium Dome, the O2 Arena is a large capacity indoor arena in Greenwich
capable of accommodating up to 20,000 people and is one of the largest indoor arenas
in Europe.
The O2 Arena began construction in 2003 and finished in 2007 and has since become
one of the world's most popular music venues. Regularly featuring the world's hottest
and most sought after acts on stage such as: Bon Jovi, Justin Timberlake, Scissor
Sisters, Prince, The Rolling Stones, Elton John and Take That, every minor detail
has been thought of in the design of the O2 to improve the experience.
Special acoustic materials were used in the design of the arena to create crystal
clear acoustics, whilst there is a perfect sight-line of the stage from every angle,
obscenely comfy seating, wide concourses between aisles and 548 toilets to avoid
long ques.
It is not just music events that the O2 Arena hosts either - the O2 arena can be
transformed from a concert venue into a breathtaking world class sporting arena
within hours and hosts events such as wrestling, tennis and basketball. The O2 Arena
will be hosting both the gymnastics and basketball finals of the 2012 London Olympics.
