St James Park
St James Park
London
The oldest Royal Park in London, St James Park covers 58 acres in the heart of London and is surrounded by three palaces – Westminster palace, St James palace and Buckingham palace. There is a small lake which is home to ducks, geese and pelicans. Why not watch the wildlife officers feeding the Pelicans every day at 2:30pm?
St. James's Park is home to two islands, Duck Island (guided tours are available) and West Island. There is a bridge across the lake with a view of Buckingham Palace, the main building of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the London Eye.
There are regular band concerts at lunchtime and early evening from the end of May to end of August, a children's playground to keep the children amused, and 'Inn the Park' cafe for your refreshment needs. St James Park is also home to the Mall, the road that runs from Buckingham Palace to Admiralty Arch, the setting for many ceremonial parades and events of national celebration.
