The London Imperial War Museum in Southwark, South London was opened in 1920 and is seen as one of the essential sights of London. Its aim is to provide for and encourage the study and understanding of the history of past and modern war.
The Museum's collections include archives of personal and official documents, photographs, film and video material, and oral history recordings; an extensive library, a large art collection, and examples of weaponry, equipment, military vehicles and aircraft, and other artifacts.
